The outstanding archers who were bestowed with the title "The Hero of The Year" for 2007 are:
  1. Mr. Pasang Lama from Bagarchhap
  2. Mr. Karma Gurung from Manang Village
Metha is celebrated to ward off evil spirits and to bring peace, prosperity and happiness to the village.
  •  About Metha
This festival may have originated during the time when Nepal was divided into numerous fiefdoms like Baise-Chaubise kingdoms. The kings used to fight among themselves, so they might have come up with the idea of organizing this festival in order to win over their enemies. In lower Manang, Metha is also known as 'Dachyang'. This festival is celebrated in the month of April or May when the males gather in a contest to test their targeting skills. The man who hits the target is awarded with money and a khata (scarf). Metha is celebrated to cast away evil spirits so the people will be prosperous, healthy and happy.
